The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has arrested a former Camden Military Academy dean of students on charges involving a minor. 55-year-old John Anthony Heflin was charged Thursday with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 16 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to arrest warrants, the charges stem from allegations involving a 14-year-old in Horry County in 2014. The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office requested the SLED investigation. Heflin was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County. The case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
