A partnership between the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and Woolard Technology Center continues to give local students hands-on experience for careers in public safety.
In 2019, Sheriff Lee Boan arranged the donation of a retired, fully equipped patrol cruiser to WTC’s Law Enforcement Services program. Since then, 280 students across 14 classes have used the vehicle to practice traffic stops, emergency procedures, radio operation and other real-world law enforcement skills. The program helps prepare students for careers in law enforcement, firefighting and emergency response.
Youth ages 14 to 20 can also join the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program. For more information, call SRO Lieutenant Shelton at 803-425-1512. (photo courtesy of Johnny Deal)
