On Monday, Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline Graham Nordone to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the passing of her brother, Senator Lindsey Graham. Nordone becomes the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. A longtime public servant, she has served since 2019 as Commissioner of the South Carolina Commission for the Blind and has nearly 30 years of state government experience. She will serve through January 3, 2027, until the winner of November’s general election is sworn into office. State Republican Party voters will choose a nominee in a special primary on August 11.
