Kershaw County voters will head to the polls Tuesday, June 9th, for South Carolina’s Primary Election, with several local races adding excitement to the ballot. Republican voters in State House District 65 will choose between Barbara Arthur and Cody T. Mitchell. The winner will advance to the November General Election. Democratic voters in State House District 70 will select among Noah Barker, Eve Carlin, and Robert Reese to determine who moves on to face Republican incumbent Bill Taylor this fall.
Another closely watched local race is the Republican primary for Kershaw County Council District 4, where Jonathan Proctor and Marc Wood are seeking the party’s nomination. District 4 includes portions of the Lugoff and Elgin communities and represents one of the county’s fastest-growing areas.
In addition to local contests, voters will help decide nominations for Governor, U.S. Senate, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, and several other statewide offices. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Election officials remind voters that they may vote in only one party’s primary and should double-check their polling location, as several precincts have been consolidated for Election Day. You can listen to coverage of the results live as they come in on Kool 102.7 on Tuesday night beginning in the 7pm hour.
