The City of Camden is asking residents to voluntarily conserve water following a Stage 1 drought declaration across the Catawba-Wateree River Basin. Officials say several months of below-average rainfall have led to lower stream and water levels in the region. While no mandatory restrictions are in place, residents are encouraged to cut back on non-essential water use, limit lawn watering to twice a week, and irrigate only during off-peak hours—from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. City leaders say taking small steps now can help protect the water supply heading into the warmer months.
