At a press conference on Friday, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office officially introduced its newest K-9 officer — K-9 Jake, affectionately known as “Jake from State Farm.”

Sheriff’s officials say the new K-9 was made possible through a generous donation of nearly $20,000 from Gary Patterson of State Farm in Lugoff, who contributed the funds through the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation to fully cover the cost of the dog. K-9 Jake has already begun training and is quickly forming a strong working partnership with his handler, Master Deputy Tay Moore. Together, the team will strengthen the Sheriff’s Office’s ability to protect and serve the citizens of Kershaw County. Sheriff’s officials extended a heartfelt thank you to Gary Patterson and State Farm for their continued support of law enforcement and commitment to public safety in the community.
