The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon on Goins Lane in Elgin. Deputies were called to the scene around three o’clock and found that an adult male had been shot. The suspected shooter had already left before deputies arrived.
The victim was taken by ambulance for medical treatment and was able to identify the suspect before leaving the scene. He told deputies he went to the location to collect a debt, which led to a physical altercation and the shooting. Investigators say neither man lives at the Goins Lane address, and the victim remains under medical care as the search for the suspect continues.
