Multiple Arrests, Drugs and Firearms Seized in Kershaw County Investigation

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office has announced multiple arrests following a joint law enforcement operation in Elgin. On January 14th, investigators with the Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, executed a search warrant at a residence on Fort Jackson Road.

The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal sexual conduct, along with possible firearms and narcotics violations. Authorities say two individuals were detained without incident during the operation. Investigators seized several firearms and narcotics, including a stolen Glenfield twenty-two caliber rifle, two handguns, and approximately forty-seven grams of cocaine.

Three individuals now face charges. Andres Oropeza Nicolas is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Jose Gadial Baltazar faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and illegal firearm transfer. Adan Celso Evangelista is charged with unlawfully transferring a firearm.
