Join Mayor Vincent Sheheen and the City of Camden, along with friends, neighbors and members of the community, for the official start of the holiday season, with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Broad Street Park, on the corner of Broad and Rutledge Streets in Downtown Camden. Delight in the spirit of the season with musical selections played by members of the Camden Community Concert Band and songs sung by students from the Camden Middle School chorus. Enjoy hot chocolate and locally baked cookies, and see the man in red help Mayor Sheheen flip the switch to light the tree!
The Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off a series of events in Downtown Camden celebrating a “Christmas Wonderland”, including magical snowy evenings at the Christmas tree in Broad Street Park, and downtown merchants holding extended shopping hours until 7 or 8 pm on the three Fridays before Christmas – December 5, 12, and 19. On Saturday, December 13, activities downtown continue following the annual Kershaw County Christmas Parade. Many merchants will have sales and special deals, refreshments, and festive holiday cheer. The City of Camden is happy to highlight community events taking place in and around Camden in December. Visit www.experiencecamdensc.com to learn more about upcoming holiday events and activities.
