Camden High School’s Scarlet Regiment Band has received a prestigious invitation to represent South Carolina in the 2026 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. It’s an honor that places these young musicians on a national stage — but they need the community’s help to get there.

To make the trip possible for all 65 band members, the Scarlet Regiment is working hard to raise $70,000 to cover transportation, lodging, meals, and other travel expenses. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows students to not only showcase their musical talents but also honor the service and sacrifice of American veterans in the nation’s capital. Band Director, Will Finigan has expressed how meaningful this experience will be for the students. “This is more than just a trip,” “It’s a chance for our kids to perform in front of thousands, to grow personally and musically, and to represent Camden on a national level. We want every student to be able to go, regardless of their financial situation.”

The Scarlet Regiment has already begun fundraising efforts, hosting car washes, bake sales, and performances. However, reaching the $80,000 goal will require broader support from individuals, businesses, and civic organizations. They say you can help in several ways. Donate directly to the band’s fundraisers, Sponsor a student or contribute as a business partner, Attend upcoming fundraising events or share their mission on social media, Give a generous amount to help support this effort to raising as much money to get these kids to DC, or Alert the community, letting them know that this opportunity is not just for the kids but its another why to let people know about Camden.
