On Tuesday, September 2, the South Carolina Department of Education released the 2024-2025 English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science South Carolina College and Career Ready Assessments (SC READY) data for students in grades 3-8 and the End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) results.

The latest assessment data indicates KCSD elementary and middle school students exceeded the state’s growth in nearly all of the SCREADY tested areas for English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics and science; and middle and high school students exceeded or met the state’s growth in the four EOCEPs, which include Algebra 1, Biology, English 2 and US History.

“The results of our recent SCREADY and EOC testing data are a true testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and staff. Our district showed growth in nearly every tested area, and we exceeded or met the state’s growth in 16 out of 18 areas. These results are not just numbers — they represent the innovative learning strategies and tireless effort our teachers pour into their classrooms every day. They also reflect the incredible commitment of our students, who have risen to the challenge and shown what is possible when we all work together,” says KCSD Superintendent Harrison Goodwin.

Highlights from the 2024-2025 KCSD data include:

  • Of 14 SCREADY categories (Grades 3-8 ELA, Grades 3-8 Math, Grades 4 and 6 Science), KCSD made gains over 2023-2024 results in 13 of the 14 categories for students scoring Met or Exemplary.
  • All tested mathematics categories (SCREADY and Algebra I EOC) increased over 2023-2024 results.
  • Three elementary schools (Camden Elementary, North Central Elementary and Pine Tree Hill Elementary) saw growth in every SCREADY tested grade level and subject.
  • All four middle schools (Camden Middle, Lugoff-Elgin Middle, North Central Middle and Stover Middle) exceeded the state average in SCREADY science.
  • Lugoff-Elgin Middle improved in seven of eight SCREADY tested areas. Two middle schools (Camden and North Central) improved in six of eight SCREADY tested areas.
  • Twenty-three KCSD students earned maximum scores on the SC READY assessment in English Language Arts, Mathematics, or Science last spring, showing their mastery of South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards in grades 3–8.
  • Three of four EOCEPs (Algebra 1, Biology and US History) showed growth in passage rate and exceeded the state growth.
  • All three high schools increased in Algebra 1 EOC exams.

“We are so proud of everyone’s accomplishments during the 2024-2025 school year. This is a clear sign that we are moving in the right direction, and I am excited to see what we will achieve next,” says Goodwin.
