At Tuesday’s Camden City Council meeting, the council passed first reading of an ordinance in which it named Matthew T. Dewitt as the new Camden City Manager. Dewitt was recently City Manager of Newberry and is currently utilities manager in Batesburg Leesville. Council in the meeting, noted that they expect Dewitt to begin his tenure at the end of June. Since this was an ordinance reading, before it is official, council will need to pass second and final reading at their next council meeting in a couple of weeks.
