According to a press release sent to WPUB/WCAM, South Carolina esteemed community leader and lifelong resident Mike Jones has officially declared his candidacy for South Carolina Senate Seat 35 in the upcoming election. He announced his candidacy on the anniversary of his 36-year military career in the Army. He owns several local businesses including Freedom First Outfitters and Jones Insurance Agency. He is also a Kershaw County delegate in the South Carolina GOP, vice chairman of the Kershaw County Sherrif’s Citizens Advisory Board, President Elect for South Carolina Army National Guard, and the treasurer and an executive board member for Mid Carolina Credit Union to mention a few of his responsibilities. In announcing his candidacy, Mike Jones expressed his unwavering commitment to addressing the many pressing issues facing our state, including improving local infrastructure, easing the tax burden on individuals and small businesses, and protecting the 2nd amendment as well as establishing term limits and securing voting integrity. With a focus on collaboration and bipartisan solutions, he seeks to bridge divides and enact meaningful change that benefits residents across the political spectrum.
Jones joins Jerry Chivers, Christina Allard and Lindsay Agostini who have filed on the republican side for Senate Seat 35, and Austin Floyd Jr, Jeffrey Graham, Lucy Mahon, Dwight Moore, and Melissa Weeks-Richardson on the democratic side. Statewide primaries are scheduled for June 11th.
