The 5th annual MLK Unity Day Celebration will take place Saturday, January 17th, beginning at noon on the steps of Camden City Hall, located at 1000 Lyttleton Street. Once again, Kershaw County elementary and high school students will be front and center, sharing powerful student essays inspired by this year’s theme, “His Dream is Ours.” The program will also feature performances by local school choirs, student recognition awards, and refreshments provided by Unity in the Community.
The day begins earlier with the MLK Unity March, which starts at10:45 am at the African American Cultural Center, located at 517 York Street, and proceeds to City Hall. The march and celebration are free and open to the public. Serving as Master of Ceremonies will be Antjuan Seawright of Blueprint Strategy. The event is hosted by Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County, the City of Camden, the African American Cultural Center, and Unity in the Community.
